Medical Detox

What Is Medical Detox?

Medical detox is the process of safely removing drugs or alcohol from your body under medical supervision. It is the first and most critical step in addiction treatment.

Withdrawal can be dangerous, even life-threatening, for some substances. At LTR Rehab in Riverside, our medical team monitors you around the clock to keep you safe and as comfortable as possible. We use medications when needed to ease withdrawal symptoms and prevent complications.

Our detox program includes 24/7 medical monitoring and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to ensure your safety throughout the process.

Stabilization

Medical staff guide you through withdrawal with 24/7 monitoring. Medications ease symptoms and prevent dangerous complications. This phase typically lasts 3 to 7 days.

Once stable, your care team connects you to the next level of treatment. Most clients move into our residential program for continued support.

Outpatient programs let you receive treatment while living at home. You attend therapy sessions at our Riverside facility during the day and return home in the evening.

  • Have completed residential treatment and are stepping down

LTR Rehab offers three levels of outpatient care so you get the right amount of support at each stage of recovery.

Our Outpatient Levels

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Duration: 2 to 4 weeks  |  Hours: 5 to 6 hours per day, 5 days per week

PHP is the most intensive outpatient option. You spend most of the day at our facility receiving therapy, group sessions, and medical support. It is a strong step down from residential treatment or an alternative for those who do not need 24/7 care.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Duration: 8 to 12 weeks  |  Hours: 3 to 4 hours per day, 3 to 5 days per week

IOP gives you structured treatment with more flexibility. Sessions include group therapy, individual counseling, and skill-building workshops. Many clients attend IOP after completing PHP or residential care.

Standard Outpatient

Duration: Ongoing  |  Hours: 1 to 2 hours per week

Standard outpatient provides weekly check-ins, individual therapy, and group support. It is the final step in the treatment continuum and helps you maintain recovery long-term.

Days Per Week 5 3–5 1–2

Step-Down Care: Most clients at LTR Rehab move through these levels over time, starting at a higher intensity and stepping down as they build strength in recovery. Your care team adjusts your plan based on your progress.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

What Is Dual Diagnosis?

Dual diagnosis means a person has both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition at the same time. These two problems often feed each other. For example, someone with depression may use alcohol to cope, and alcohol use can make depression worse.

At LTR Rehab in Riverside, we treat both conditions together. Research shows this integrated approach leads to better outcomes than treating each issue separately.

Nearly half of people with a substance use disorder also have a mental health condition. Treating only one without the other often leads to relapse.

Mental Health Conditions We Treat

Our clinical team has experience treating these common co-occurring disorders alongside addiction:

Depression
Anxiety Disorders
PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Bipolar Disorder

Our Integrated Approach

LTR Rehab uses an integrated treatment model that addresses addiction and mental health at the same time. Here is how it works:

  • Comprehensive Assessment: We evaluate both your substance use and mental health during intake to build a complete picture of your needs.
  • Psychiatric Care: Our psychiatrists and nurse practitioners provide ongoing evaluations and work directly with your treatment team.
  • Medication Management: When appropriate, we use medications to stabilize mental health symptoms. All medications are carefully monitored.
  • Evidence-Based Therapy: We use proven methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR to treat both conditions.
  • Coordinated Care Team: Therapists, psychiatrists, and addiction counselors work together so your treatment plan stays aligned.
  • Aftercare Planning: Before you leave, we create a long-term plan that includes continued mental health support and relapse prevention.
